Frigid, sub zero temperatures have hit Eastern Idaho. Factoring in the wind and we have some very cold weather. -20 to -28 degrees in the upper Snake River Plain.  This cold spell is expected to continue thru the week-end. With New Year's day 2011, to be the coldest.

To protect from freezing pipes leave a trickle of water running in a sink. Check space heaters often if you are using them. Water damages can occur in many ways. Fires can occur during this cold weather as well from overheated space heaters, combustibles items being to close to the heat source.
