Continuing with fire facts from an article by Mike Sheehan in East Edaho Home and Garden.
- Smoking is the number one cause of death. A close second is faulty heating equipment.
- Every 20 seconds a fire department responds to a fire somewhere in the nation.
- 75% of fire deaths are attributed to smoke inhaulation.
- 400 degrees is the temperature at which a towel, pot holder or piece of clothing fabric can catch fire.
- 800 degrees is the temperature an electrical coil on a stove.
- 1,000 degrees is the temperature of a gas flame.
