Facts about fire for Eastern Idaho or anywhere...Part 2

Continuing with fire facts from an article by Mike Sheehan in East Edaho Home and Garden.

  • Smoking is the number one cause of death. A close second is faulty heating equipment.
  • Every 20 seconds a fire department responds to a fire somewhere in the nation.
  • 75% of fire deaths are attributed to smoke inhaulation.
  • 400 degrees is the temperature at which a towel, pot holder or piece of clothing fabric can catch fire.
  • 800 degrees is the temperature an electrical coil on a stove.
  • 1,000 degrees is the temperature of a gas flame.
