Welcome to February 2011. It's a cold one today and thru most of this week. Wind chill warnings are in effect today (Tuesday the 1st). With wind chills of -20 to -30 in many parts of the Upper Snake River Valley (Idaho Falls north). The lower valley from 0 to -10 (Blackfoot - Pocatello).

Keep a little water running in the sink. Check space heaters ( at least every hour or two) if you are using them. Help prevent freezing or bursting pipes in this kind of weather.

Enjoy your week-end. Bitter cold will return next week in the upper Snake River Valley.  Temperatures in the -10 F range. With any wind at all the temperatures will be causing extreme cold.

Take precautions to keep pipes, wells from freezing. If you use space heaters, keep an eye on them to prevent overheating and starting fire damage.

With warmer temperatures over the week-end of January 15th - 16th, 2011 along with additional rain and snow. Our winter wonderland is melting. Even the streets here in Eastern Idaho we can see pavement again!

As snow melts and runs off keep an eye on window wells, gutter down spout flow and water from neighbors can affecting your home or commerical property. Generally, outside water damages are not covered by home owners insurance...(each case is different).

It's nice to have a break in the cold weather and it's issues. Warm temperatures with addition moisture that's coming, brings new water damage threats...flood damage as well.

Eastern Idaho, we have more precipitation coming over the next 5-7 days. Along with snow we will get some rain. So we may have melting of snow. With water run off a possibility. Check your home or business to be prepared! Water damages can occur as things warm up.

Here in Eastern Idaho we have a bit of a break in the weather. We have a slight warming trend with snow coming the week-end of Jan 7th - Jan 9th, 2011.

Next Monday (Jan 10 -12, 2011)  thru midweek we will have bitter cold again in Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Island Park, Teton Valley and Mud Lake - Roberts area.

Over the next few days we will post blogs on water damage clean-up equipment, drying equipment and how we can test for moisture levels in floors, walls and ceilings.
